We are getting ready to head out on a big family beach vacation soon.
We have children from pre-school to elementary school. I was wondering what to pack to keep them entertained. I also did not want to miss any essential items on our packing list.
For those who vacation at the beach, what are your “must-have” items to include for the vaca?

I'll bookmark these ideas! Some of the things we always bring to the beach are:
- sandproof/waterproof blanket
- something for shade
- beach toys
- baby wipes
- cooler with lots of snacks (we use frozen water bottles to help keep things cool)
A rolling wagon is a really great tool to cart everything back and forth. They fold up nicely and hold a ton of stuff.
I like thinking about beach vacations! For us, in Australia, and depending on which beach, but we have to remember to bring vinegar to tend to jelly fish bites!
Apart from that, I always make sure we have the sand play items, floaties and our metal detector for some fun beach combing!
We've headed to the beach last year and my kids enjoyed it more compared to our usual pool swimming. My kids loved the sand on their feet although my youngest was a little uneasy at first, perhaps because of the texture.
As you have mentioned, you've already packed your essentials, right? I supposed your kids' sunblock lotion is already in your bag. You might also want to consider bringing aloe vera gel. It is a good skin relief for sunburn and has a cooling relief that will ease some skin discomfort.
Do not forget to bring some toys too. The shore will definitely be a huge playground. So bring those little buckets, shovel rakes, and molders. How about inflatables? They will have a great time with both the sand and water at the same time.
What a great question.
These are the things on my list....
- swimwear and towels
-change of clothes
-something for shade
- tennis balls - these can be used for so many games.
- bucket and shovel
- water bottles and snacks
I hope you have a lovely time on your holiday :)
