What are your best solutions for a clogged milk duct and sore breasts while nursing? I can only do a televisit with my PCP right now, but wondering if anyone has any home solutions that work well. I understand antibiotics will be needed under certain circumstances, but aside from nursing a lot on the sore breast, what other ideas are out there?

Oh, this is very painful. I breastfed my 2 girls and I have had clogged milk ducts for both. You see, I had to leave both girls in the hospital after giving birth because of our RH incompatibility. I was asked to pump my breastmilk for a week because I cannot directly feed them while they were at the hospital. After a few days of breast pumping round the clock, I experienced pain in both breasts and when I touched them, there are some parts that were hard (like lumps, I supposed).
The best home remedy is putting some hot compress and massaging your breasts as often as possible. You should also extract your milk in a timely manner if you are unable to directly feed your baby. Be sure to address your clogged milk duct as it can sometimes lead to a more serious condition called mastitis.
You can also get in touch with a lactation consultant or in my case, I contacted a lactation therapist to do some breast massages. It was quite painful but after the session, I felt relieved and was able to continue breast pumping until I get to bring home my baby.
Do not hesitate to ask for help. Childbirth, breastfeeding, and taking care of your newborn are indeed very handful tasks as a mom.
I remember this, too, and it was so painful! A hot compress, like the rice or beans in a bag and then placed in a microwave for heating, really helped. Also, soaking in a bath of water, as hot as you can handle, with Epsom salts is very healing. My La Leche helper showed me how to reposition my daughter so that she was positioned in such a way as to promote the milk duct to unclog. There was one more thing I remember which helped immensely, which was using Earth Mama's nipple butter. This was so soothing and really calmed down the soreness in that area. I hope you feel better soon, too!
