How did you spend Father’s Day?
< 1 min read
It’s a grand day for all dads yesterday! My husband is not really into going out of the way for any special occasions but does not mind having simple and intimate celebrations for our family. I have come to accept this and I really do not mind. So, what we did was just ordered Thai food (because it is his favorite) and just eat at home. How did you celebrate Father’s day? ![]() |

Similar to others in that we just celebrate with a nice meal at lunch time, usually at a restaurant and time as a family. I will usually organise to buy a small Lego box, as that's his favourite thing to do, so that he can build it during the day with our daughter. Usually its just a low key event and time to re-charge and reconnect with family.

My observation is that many people, dads included, have realised that businesses cash in on these celebration days and that advertising puts a lot of pressure on people to go all out with buying gifts.
Almost all the dads I know have said that spending quality time with their family was the best possible gift. They also love the small tokens of appreciation like a homemade card, their favorite meal, or everyone participating in an activity they enjoy - whether it is watching sports, going fishing, or having a family barbecue.
My kid's dad and my own father do not live nearby, but we all made sure we told our dads (and granddad) how much we love and appreciate them by video call. Thank goodness technology affords us this privilege.

Our father’s day was almost the same as yours.
My husband is posted in another city these days. He comes home on weekends and likes to spend most of his time at home with the kids. His favorite past time is watching television and playing indoor games with them.
As it was his special day, we tailored it around his loved activities. We cut a cake at home and watched his favorite show. We also ordered food from his favorite Chinese restaurant. Kids had already purchased a surprise gift for him. It turned out to be a lovely family celebration.

We did "life"... some things got canceled, and plans got changed, so we went with the flow and made the best of it. Nothing too crazy but the weather was amazing. We spent most of the day outside playing games and gardening.
To top the day off, I made a shrimp boil for my husband and my dad. It was a really simple but insanely delicious meal that pleased everyone! I highly recommend it.

I think many dads just want to nap, watch tv and eat what they love on Fathers Day. Each dad enjoys celebrating their day differently.
My husband does not mind the big family Father's Day celebrations as long as he has time for a big nap!
So we did just that yesterday for Father's Day.
We have an amusement area along the river in our city where we happen to also dock our pontoon boat. So after the family had a little boating time, my husband stayed on the boat to snooze while the kids went to get ice cream and play mini-golf.
Everyone was happy, and we got some great pictures along the water to remember our fun celebration.
