I have heard about this but we never really did it. We have 4 kids and when we had our first two, money was very tight and we couldn't afford any kind of extra gift. Our circumstances are different now so perhaps i need to ask hubby to backpay me for 4 push presents haha.

What an interesting concept! Is this present a way to acknowledge a mother's considerable contribution to having a child? I wonder if this is only for vaginal births or c-sections also.?
We certainly do deserve tons of credit for having a baby; however, it comes out! The father should be the one to "reward" the mother for all of her hard work. Jewelry is always lovely, especially something personalized and significant to motherhood. A birthstone of the newborn or "mother" necklace is a nice touch.
I would think that a push present should not be expected but is an extra "nicety". If someone close to the mother wants to give a personalized "mother" gift, then a pamper basket of goodies, soft robe, or slippers are other good ideas that a new mom will appreciate.

I have heard of them but never received them. I've seen them more from the husband or partner giving the birthing mother something right before or during labor. Usually, they are pretty extravagant gifts, like a nice piece of jewelry or something. I think it's cute and can be something really nice for the new mama.
Some nice ideas that I think would work would be a cozy robe or new slippers for the recovery time at home, some bath and body products for the hospital or at home, a journal to document the postpartum experience, or some other self-care items.
