Self care tonics
< 1 min read
I suffer from adrenal fatigue as do a few of my mother friends in this period of raising small children, I’m interested to know if anyone has come across homemade elixirs or tonics that have worked to heal the adrenal system and reduce stress in the nervous system? ![]() |

Homemade tonics are always better than store brought. Here are some of the homemade tonics that I have tried so far:
* Lemon water - the simplest you can make at home.
* Lemon, Cayenne, and maple shot - good for weight loss
* ACV shot -this can curb hunger if you are on a diet
* Simple Ginger/Turmeric tea- my favorite during flu season
If you want a stress buster kind of a tonic, try Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) tonic. It has loads of benefits including the prevention of weight gain, stress, anxiety, and depression. I just put 2 tablespoons of ACV in a cup of water and drink either hot or cold. Try it and you will definitely feel relaxed!

I have found several manufactured tinctures and tonics using different herbs and supplements. It's always best to talk to your PCP before trying any new supplement, even if it's considered natural. I imagine you want to try something sooner rather than later, and I found a recipe that sounds quite delicious and seems to be a great, mild way to start battling adrenal fatigue.
4 ounces freshly squeezed orange juice (preferably organic)
8 ounces coconut water
1/4 tsp of sea salt
I think the focus here is to consume foods that are low in sugar and caffeine. And then focus on adding Vitamins B6, B5, and B12, Vitamin C, and magnesium to your diet.
I swear by magnesium. I think it helps me sleep better, keeps my migraines at bay, and relieves stress and anxiety.
I hope this is helpful and that you feel better soon!
