My husband and I have been long-term foster carers and have also considered adoption. We would love to hear from those who have been through adoption processes and are keen to hear about the pros, cons and unexpected elements of adoption.

In our extended family, we have had 2 adoptions. Both were adopted as infants. Everything has turned out beautifully, and they have been a part of our family since day 1.
Aside from the initial disappointments while waiting to be "chosen" as an adoptive parent, the process went smoothly. I imagine that you will skip that phase as your kids are older.
You do hear of many horror stories of birth parents who decide not to go through with the adoption at the last minute or adopting children with unknown severe emotional baggage. Since you know these children, hopefully, you are already aware of their behaviors and hidden issues.
What a wonderful gift you are giving these 2 children. I can't imagine how happy they are to know that they are truly loved by you and your family enough to adopt them.
I wish you the best in this fantastic process that will transform these kids' lives for the better.
